Erika Gulija, Senior Vice President, has spent nearly a decade in communications moving impactful messages that drive people to action. As a sought-after communications consultant, she has booked clients on the airwaves of CNN, MSNBC, PBS, CBS, ABC, and their local syndicates; placed profile pieces in The Atlantic, Time Magazine, and NPR; and landed client quotes and op-eds in The New York Times, Washington Post, Teen Vogue, Elle Magazine, and so many more. While she carries a toolbox of best practices, she has remained at the forefront of evolving digital communications strategies that have helped her clients reach new audiences. In the era of custom newsfeeds and fragmented media consumption, she knows how to reach people wherever they’re tuning in to make sense of the world—from TikTok collaborations to interviews on celebrity podcasts and Substack features with trusted influencers.
She was previously a Principal at Fireside Campaigns where she was the lead TV booker—helping numerous clients make their primetime debuts. There, Erika led communication strategies and was a thought partner for a host of clients across issues of voting rights, reproductive freedom, democracy reform, climate justice, gun violence prevention, immigration reform and more.
She previously led state-based legislative research for The Climate Reality Project where she also helped organize the Denver People’s Climate March and supported the 100% Pro-Snow campaign in collaboration with Colorado’s ski resorts. She was an on-the-record spokesperson and authored published thought leadership pieces.
Before that, she supported press efforts that helped elect Jared Polis as Governor of Colorado and worked as a community organizer during the 2016 presidential election and 2018 midterm election. From presidential races to local ballot measures, Erika has worked up and down the ticket to win elections with strong earned media campaigns. With her roots in grassroots organizing, she takes the lessons she learned talking to voters at the door years ago and transforms those into impactful messaging campaigns today.
Erika holds degrees in Journalism and International Affairs from the University of Colorado at Boulder with minors in religious studies and Arabic. She lives in Denver, Colorado, with her cat Blu.
