Meet Taj
Taj Magruder comes to New Heights Communications with over a decade of experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors.
He previously worked as Press Secretary at the Pennsylvania Department of Education, leading media relations for one of the largest state agencies in Pennsylvania. He also served as Communications Director for the Philadelphia Department of Commerce and State Senator Tim Kearney. In the latter role, he spearheaded a campaign to pass “Breonna’s Law” to ban no-knock warrants in Pennsylvania.
Outside of the public sector, Taj has worked at 617MediaGroup and Benenson Strategy Group, developing communications strategies for labor unions, advocacy groups, political campaigns, and more. He developed messaging for the ACLU’s successful campaign to pass two ballot measures on criminal justice reform in Oklahoma, as well as the Western Conservation Foundation’s successful efforts to hold oil and gas companies in Colorado accountable for abandoned wells.
Taj holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Penn State University, where he was vice president of the College Democrats and political action chair of the NAACP chapter. He lives in Philadelphia.
Fun Fact: He is a published author who just released his first novel, a mix of true crime and historical fiction about a 1930s murder in the PA Dutch country.
