Trump is just a figurehead for this underlying sentiment that has existed for some time now. …There’s been, starting with the Tea Party, a vocalization of this white, nationalist nativist narrative, that existed before Trump came on the scene. And the danger is that it might exist after he’s gone. Even if he loses the election, it all comes down to how he loses it, how he shifts things on the national level.”
